  I'm glad to see the Triumph TR 8 Drophead on this shortlist as I own one of these very rare cars in Europe (Switzerland). It has aulactly 75000 km (47000 miles) on the odo and is one of the very last to be built (end of july 1981). The car is not in line with the 70's/80's image of poor realiability of BL products as it's running faultlessly. The car is not very fast but strong on low end torque and then...what a joy to listen to this fantastic american V8 music on a sunny day with the hood down and a nice grin on my face. Let the TR 8 become a real classic. It deserves...

  In a race on a tight track I think I could beat any of the newer GTI's with the original since it only wehgeid about 1700 pounds. We had a 1976 Rabbit with a very hot motor from a professional Volkswagen engine builder in Colombia, catalytic converter removed, larger carburetor, around 115 hp, that thing would fly.
